The students of Smart Wonders School, Sector – 71, Mohali, brought laurels to the school in the World Scholar’s Cup held at Learning Paths School, Mohali on August 26-27, 2016. The event is held every year and this year’s theme was ‘An imperfect world’.
The students on the first day were to present themselves in debate, collaborative writing, multiple choice tests and quizzes, and touch upon related topics such as crime and justice, disease and public health, when states faltered.
Two out of the three teams that represented the school in the event have qualified for the Global Round. From the Junior Division Roohani Kumar was awarded one amongst the Champion Debators, Jasleen Mahendru and Avya Sood won Junior Honour Medals, Maanit a bagged a medal in the DaVinci Scholars Category in the Senior’s Division.
Gurkirat Singh Nayyar, Deepkhushi Baidwan and Arsh Kaur bagged Senior Honour Medals in the Top Debate Teams. Other participants Sachin Kumar and Agam Sharma were also applauded for their contribution in bringing kudos for their teams. The school has also been awarded one fourth position in the overall championship. Principal, Ms Anu Dhingra, congratulated the students and commended the hard work and the spirit of participation of the students and teachers who worked with them. She encouraged them and all other students to be ready for all such events.
